As a fourth generation Ocalan, my upbringing in District 2 is filled with wonderful memories from little league baseball, Super Sundays at N H Jones, watching the older boys play sandlot football from the monkey bars, and softball games at Carver Park. When I became older and was allowed to go the "Aud" on Sundays after church and had a chance to play on the main floor and eventually played in The Golden Arm Classic.
My matriculation through the District 2 school system included attending College Park (primary), Dr. N. H. Jones (elementary), Osceola Middle and graduating from Forest High School in 1988.
After high school I attended Florida A&M University with dual B.A. degrees in Psychology and Political Science. I graduated in 1992 and continued to graduate school where I earned an MS in Educational and Leadership and Supervision from National Louis University.
Currently, I live in West Ocala with my wife Pamela and for the past 17 years, work for the Marion County School Board in various teaching and leadership roles. I attend New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church where I have the privilege of serving as a Deacon and the Chairman of the Men's Ministry. When time and weather permit, I am an avid golfer.
I can never give back enough to my community for the values and memories instilled in me by friends, family, teachers, and the citizens of the district, so I serve on the board of directors of several organizations to make sure there is always a voice for District 2. These organizations include the West Ocala CRA (Chairman), Estella Byrd Whitman Wellness Center (Chairman), Friends Foundation (Chairman), Ocala Housing Authority (Vice Chairman), Ocala 2035 Vision Committee, Marion County Branch NAACP (2nd Vice Chairman), Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, and Queens Victory Lodge #50.
